Widespread Protests Of Nurses Affecting The Health Services At Dhangadhi Hospital

According to the reports, health-related services have been unfavourably affected at the largest health facility in the region, Dhangadhi-based Seti Zonal Hospital.  A widespread agitation could be spotted among the nurses throughout the nation. The Nursing Association of Nepal has come on the warpath following Bhaktapur-based Human Organ Transplant Centre had sacked some nurses from the service after forcing them to work as volunteers for an extended period of time. In this regard, the association has initiated a nationwide agitation putting forth 11-point demand together with the reemployment of the nurses.

Service seekers also complained that they had been deprived of essential health services following the decision of the nurses to join the strike. NAN, Kailali chair Yashoda Dhakal remarked that have been bound to halt their service offerings as the Government was not paying adequate attention to meet their demands. She further warned that the entire association was also planning to halt their services for 24 hours in case their demands were not addressed. She also added that they were about to stop their services at the hospital for three hours from January 17. She also demanded the unrestricted restoration of those individuals, who used to work at the transplant centre. In a statement, she stated that their protest and agitation was resulting adversely, patients were being affected by the unavailability of the services. They have been bound to do the same; they had no other choices left.

Reports have clarified that patients were being admitted and remained unable to avail the services due to the ongoing strike. Hira Lal Bohara also alleged that the patients were heavily affected and the entire situation has been messed up.
