The board of the Muslim Legal Fund of America (MLFA) is pleased to announce the appointment of Arshia Ali-Khan to the role of Interim CEO.
In her new capacity, Ms. Ali-Khan will work closely with MLFA’s Executive Director and the MLFA board of directors to provide leadership and strategic oversight as MLFA implements its strategic plan to enhance organizational efficiency, infrastructure, and capacity to meet the demands of its mission.
Ms. Ali-Khan, who will also continue to serve as MLFA’s Chief Development Officer, brings over 15 years of experience in development, fundraising, and nonprofit leadership.
Ms. Ali-Khan was recently selected as a participant in the inaugural Zakat Foundation Institute (ZFI) Muslim Philanthropy and Humanitarian Studies Fellowship through the Muslim Philanthropy Initiative at the Indiana University Lilly Family School of Philanthropy.
She is also a participating member of the Community Collaborative Initiative (CCI), also through the Muslim Philanthropy Initiative.
“The civil rights of the Muslim community continue to be under threat,” says Tarek Alkadri, MLFA Board Chair. “The work of MLFA to fund legal actions that ensure that the constitutional rights of Muslim Americans are protected — in and out of the federal court system — is more important than ever. With the appointment of an Interim CEO we are challenging all of the stakeholders invested in MLFA to find ways to elevate our influence and impact towards this mission.”
“MLFA is fortunate to have a transformative leader such as Arshia,’ says Dilnaz Waraich, President of the Waraich Family Fund. “Her passion and commitment to advancing missions that seek to strengthen and support the Muslim American community comes through in all she does.
In the years that I have known Arshia, she has consistently demonstrated the skills and qualities that I consider the hallmarks of a transformational leader: transparency, empathy, integrity and the ability to work collaboratively to inspire the best from others.”
The Muslim Legal Fund of America (MLFA) is a national nonprofit organization that funds legal work to advance equality and justice for the American Muslim community and combat the injustices done in the name of national security.
