Election Rallies in Nepal Targeted By Bombers

Recently, two different bomb blasts have rocked the election rallies across Nepal. The incident had taken place on November 28 during a break in rounds of ballot vote for a new federal government. According to the statements of police officer Durga Singh, seven civilians and a police officer had been victimized and injured in a blast on a rally. The incident took place across the areas of Dang, a district located in the mid-west of the Himalayan nation. It was Sher Bahadur Deuba, the Prime Minister about to address the rally of the ruling Nepali Congress party.

It would be relevant to admit that a crude bomb also has been detonated just before former Prime Minister K.P. Sharma Oli was scheduled to address a rally of the opposition Unified Marxist-Leninist party at an outer edge of capital Kathmandu. However, no causalities seemed to take place in the explosion around 400 meters from the gathering.

The Communist Party of Nepal is a Maoist group that had split from their roots in the year of 2014. Primarily, they are being pointed out behind the attacks. Till date, more than 500 party members had been arrested by the Police.  The attacks have been targeted just two days after the completion of the opening round of a two-phase election. There are numerous candidates from over 90 parties to take part for 275 seats in the new federal parliament and 550 seats in seven provincial assemblies across the nation.

The Election Commission confirmed that the counting of Vote will start after the second phase of polls that took place on December 7 in Kathmandu and the results are expected by mid-December.
