Court Verdict on 2G Scam Reveals PMO Officials Have Hidden Few Facts From Manmohan Singh

According to the verdict of a special court on December 20, the senior officials at the office of then Prime Minister Manmohan Singh had lied and hidden some of the most significant and notorious element regarding Raja’s letter and the then telecom minister could not be mistaken for misrepresentation the facts. Earlier, CBI had accused that Mr Raja had misled Dr Singh in the letters on different important issues regarding the policy of grant of 2G spectrum licences, counting first-come-first-served and the cut-off date.

OP Saini, the Special CBI Judge remarked during clearing the offenders in three different 2G spectrum cases that it was not A Raja but Pulok Chatterjee, together with T K A Nair. He had hidden the utmost significant and underlying notorious element of the letter sent by A Raja from the then Prime Minister Manmohan Singh. The judge also remarked while stating harsh comments against the top bureaucrats that in the end, he has not discovered any merit in the submission of the trial that the Prime Minister was either misled by A Raja or that the facts had been distorted to him.

The court also held that Mr Raja couldn’t be blamed for supposed falsification of significant documents before the then Prime Minister Dr Singh as the complete facts were not disclosed before him by his own officers. While addressing to a note written by Mr Chatterjee, the court also termed it lengthier than that of Mr Raja. The court also remarked that Prime Minister is a busy executive. It would be difficult for him to find time to read such lengthy notes. He would have never expected to be engrossed in files.
