SCHAUMBURG, IL — Authorities have taken into custody the driver of a rogue SUV that crashed through the storefront of a Sears at Woodfield Mall on Friday afternoon and drove through the popular mall in Schaumburg. Around 3:15 p.m. on Friday, police said they were working to evacuate the mall and have no reason to believe there is “an active shooter situation.”
No injuries have been reported. Authorities are asking all residents to avoid the Woodfield Mall area in Schaumburg as the investigation continues and the Federal Bureau of Investigation Chicago has been called to the scene to assist local police.
“There is no threat to public safety,” according to a post on the FBI Chicago Twitter page.
