Birmingham stabbings: Police declare ‘major incident’ as several injured

British police declared a “major incident” early on Sunday after multiple people were stabbed in the centre of England’s second city Birmingham.

According to the international news agency, West Midlands Police were called to reports of a stabbing at around 00:30 BST on Sunday. Stabbing incidents were reported in the area shortly after the report.

A “major incident” highlights that there is the security of people is at risk in the area. All the emergency services work together with special arrangements.

The force said: “We are aware of a number of injured people, but at the moment we are not in a position to say how many or how serious.”
