Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan arrived in Riyadh on an official visit to attend the Future Investment Initiative (FII) summit, candidly acknowledging that his government is in urgent need of loans to stave off a severe balance-of-payments crisis.
Speaking ahead of high-level meetings with Saudi King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Khan emphasized the need to stabilize foreign exchange reserves and avoid crushing austerity terms while simultaneously exploring bilateral assistance and IMF negotiations.
Bilateral discussions in the Saudi capital centered on energy supplies, delayed oil payments, and investment partnerships to help cushion the economic transition in Islamabad.
