Mena Mangal, a former Afghan TV presenter and an adviser to the country’s government, has been shot dead by at least one unidentified gunman while she was on her way to work on Saturday, just days after she wrote on social media that she was receiving death threats.

The shooting occurred in broad daylight on Saturday morning in the capital of Kabul, Afghan officials said. No one immediately claimed responsibility for the attack, and police have launched an investigation, saying that it’s unclear whether her murder was a terror act or the result of a personal dispute. A former TV presenter, Mangal was a cultural adviser for the country’s lower house of parliament and an advocate for women’s rights, running popular social media pages that discussed the rights of Afghan women to work and for Afghan girls to go to school, according to VOA News.
