US President Donald Trump said that the border standoff between China and India is “very nasty” and “they (China) are certainly going at it”.
Mr. Trump told media at a White House briefing on Friday that he had raised this matter with both India and China, and the US was ready to help.
He said, “While we’re at it, we’re talking about China and India, (they) are going at it pretty good on the border, as you know. It has been very nasty,” “And we stand ready to help, with respect to China and India”.
“If we can do anything, we would love to get involved and help. And we are talking to both countries about that,” he added.
On the other hand, the defense ministers of China and India held negotiations in Moscow on Friday. Chinese defense minister Wei Fenghe told Indian minister that New Delhi holds full responsibility for the ongoing border tensions.
India’s defence ministry said in a tweet that the talks lasted for 2 hours and 20 minutes.
The US government source told Reuters that neither China nor India are willing to push the the point that they would engage in war.
Despite the deployment of thousands of troops in the western Himalayas, Indian Army Chief General Manoj Mukund Naravane said the ongoing border dispute with China could be resolved through dialogue.
According to the details, General Manoj said that he was satisfied that the ongoing dispute with China would be resolved through talks.
Note that the forces of the two nuclear powers on the border have been facing each other for months.
“We are convinced that the issues can be fully resolved through dialogue,” he said during a visit to Ladakh.
