Indian American Woman Dies Of Shark Attack during Snorkelling in Costa Rica

Recently, an Indian American woman has been attacked by a deadly shark attack during a holiday in Costa Rica. 49-year-old Rohina Bhandary became a victim of this tragic incident and killed by a tiger shark at the time of snorkeling off a remote island located in Costa Rica on November 30. Later, Rohina Bhandary has been recognized as an Indian American resident from the township of New York.

According to the report of Environment Ministry of Costa Rica, Rohina had been taken out of the water after being affected by vicious bites on her legs; however, the effort had gone to ashtray as they had failed to save her life.

She had received severe injuries and when she was taken to the doctors, they declared her to be deceased. Rohina used to be a part of an 18-member group who were diving off the beaches of Cocos Island National Park. It would be significant to mention that the park is widely recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site for its abundant species of sharks. It was not only her but their instructor also became a victim of another attack, however, he remained in a stable condition after being rescued.

In a statement from the Environment Ministry of the country, it is claimed unfortunate and the record of such incidents are rare. Rohina used to work as a private equity director at WL Ross & Co. she was the sister of Dr Nitin Bhandary from Mangalore and a granddaughter of IG Balakrishna Shetty. Daily Mail reported that she was one of the common faces at numerous charity events held across the New York City.
