Pakistan and Belarus Signed Agreement to work jointly on Vocational and Skill Development Programs
Pakistan and Belarus have decided to strengthen their cooperation in the field of education, science and technology. A delegation from the Republican Institute for Vocational Education (RIVE), led by Prof Arkady Shklyar, visited the office of Higher Education Commission Secretariat in Pakistan on April 01.
According to the reports, both the countries have agreed with the fact that Pakistan and Belarus have similar priorities in terms of providing higher education. Both the countries have stressed on the need to explore the potential to address future challenges related to education, science and technology. Both Pakistan and Belarus have decided to strengthen ties in academic, vocational, science and engineering sectors.

The Chairman of Higher Education Commission Dr. Mukhtar Ahmed said that in order to enhance academic collaboration, both the countries have signed an agreement at the government level. The HEC Chairman also informed the delegation from Belarus that the government of Pakistan has decided to establish three new vocational and skill development universities in the national capital Islamabad, Punjab and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa.
On the other hand, RIVE Reactor Pro Shklyar also informed the Chairman of HEC that the RIVE is giving importance to a different education system. Prof. Shklyar stressed that RIVE has initiated such activities of mutual cooperation with various global organizations. He added the presently RIVE will work on skill development and vocational training programs.
The delegation from Belarus has also held meeting with the Minister of State for Education, Training and Standard in Higher Education, Muhammad Baligh Ur Rehman, where he declared that Pakistan and Belarus will hold joint ventures in the field of technical and vocational education in colleges and universities.
The Minister and the delegation held a long discussion where they stressed on the possibilities of cooperation between the National Vocational and Technical Training Commission (NAVTTC) of Pakistan and Republican Institute for Vocational Training (RIPO) of Belarus.
An invitation has been forwarded by the delegation of Belarus to Pakistan to get a thorough understanding of Belarusian VET system. The delegation has also invited Pakistan to participate in the International Education Forum like VET Conference and National Championship world skills Belarus 2016.
While talking about the bilateral cooperation between Pakistan and Belarus, Minister Baligh said that education ministries of both the countries have signed the agreement of mutual cooperation on May 29, 2015, followed by the agreement on higher education in August 2015.
