A 15-year-old girl was burnt to death in Pantra area of Patiala district in Punjab after being allegedly murdered, the police said. Her body was recovered in Chatha Gobindpura village on Wednesday, the police further said.
She was kidnapped on Monday, and when she did not return, her family lodged a missing complaint at the Pantra police station.
On the basis of a charge filed by her father, the police arrested two men, who are in their early 40s.
In his police complaint, the father of the lost said that his daughter worked in a boutique. The implicated Deepu and Rashpal were
clued in with his daughter, who often followed and harassed her, he said.
He went on to say that he had given the duo many warnings, however, their ethics did not change.
Meanwhile, situation remained tense in Pantra area as locals protested against the alleged murder of the minor girl, and demanded stringent action against the indicted.
The district administration has setup police in Pantra and Shutrana areas keeping in view the tension.
