Shree Saini from Washington DC Won the Miss India USA 2017 Contest

21-year-old Shree Saini has been crowned as the Miss India USA 2017. Shree is a student at the University of Washington and had a pacemaker implanted at the age of 12. While speaking on her ambition in life, the resident of Washington DC said that she will dedicate her life to serve others.

Her parents are from the Indian state of Punjab and since her childhood, she had been a victim of bullying in her schools. She later became a campaigner against the oppressive behaviour. She said that she likes to work to eliminate human trafficking and promote the importance and need of emotional well-being in the society.

A 22-year-old medical student from the state of Connecticut Prachi Singh was declared as the first runner-up in the competition, while Fareena from the state of North Carolina was crowned as the second runner-up. The 17-year-old resident of New Jersey Swapna Mannam was declared as the Miss Teen India USA 2017, while Simran and Kritika were crowned as the first and second runner-up in the competition. In Mrs India USA 2017 category, Florida’s Kavita Malhotra won the first prize, while Prerna and Ishwarya were declared as the first and second runner-ups.

A number of the winners from the competition have worked in various Bollywood movies before. In previous editions, participants highlighted their talents in performing Bollywood dance and songs, but this time they have come out with their own ideas and innovations. More than 50 contestants took part in this year’s Miss India USA, Miss Teen India USA and Mrs India USA competition. Emerging India-American actor Prabhakar Saran was among the judges for the competition.
